But you can call me Tony.
I'm super excited to start first grade with all of you, and I can't wait to share my favorite things with you. I like the color green the most, but blue is a close second. I really love sea animals, zoo animals, reptiles, playing with bugs, and watching birds. I love to explore and am very curious about everything!
I love showing others the cool things I find. I might have some challenges when speaking, which can make it hard for you to understand me, but I promise I won’t give up, and I hope you’ll be patient with me too. Using pictures or visuals really helps me communicate better.
Sometimes, I don’t like bright lights or sharing my toys, and I prefer to have some space around me. Loud sounds and bright lights can make me feel really overwhelmed, especially during songs or movies. That’s why movie days might not be fun for me. When I need to calm down, my blanket is my best friend. Whether it’s hot or cold, it helps me feel safe and relaxed.
Being in big groups or crowded places can make me feel anxious, and drills can be a bit overwhelming, but with one-on-one assistance to help me feel grounded, I know I can get through it. I’m really looking forward to having a great time in first grade and making new friends!

While on this exciting journey of discovery, here are some cool things I'm learning right now:
I tend to chew when anxious and overstimulated, but to prevent me from chewing on random things I find, I use these when redirected.
My blanket can serve as my safe place and use it when I need to feel grounded or overstimulated. I have many different kinds, but this one is one of my favorites.
If I have too much energy and I am having a hard time sitting, this will help to sit on at my desk or stand on if I really have too much energy to sit and do work.
I am getting use to transistions and this timer helps me understand that it's time for the next task or a reward is inbound. This works pretty well with first and then visuals too.
I am still learning to put words to the objects and seeing a visual will help me and you to commuicate. This is the low level AAC device, but I am also learning to use a high level AAC device on an iPad or tablet.
